Pula is the largest city of the Istrian County, located on the southwestern part of the Istrian peninsula in a well-protected bay. The town has a long tradition of winemaking, fishing, shipbuilding and tourism, and is also a transit port. Pula has been the cultural center of Istria since Roman times.
The city tourist area of Stoja is actually a peninsula that is connected to the mainland and the Valovina region by a small isthmus in the north. On the western side of the peninsula is the Valovine bay, and on the eastern side is the Stoja bay. The entire coastline on the peninsula is actually a huge beach.
