Pazin is a town located in the heart of the Istrian peninsula. It is known for its medieval castle, which is located on a hill overlooking the city. The castle was built in the 10th century and was the residence of the Poreč bishops. Today, the castle houses the Ethnographic Museum of Istria, which represents the cultural and historical heritage of this region. Another important attraction in Pazin is the Pazin Abyss, a natural phenomenon that inspired many legends and stories. Ponor is a 130-meter-deep canyon formed by the Pazinčica river breaking through limestone rocks. The town of Pazin is also known for its cuisine, which includes many traditional Istrian dishes, such as truffles, prosciutto and homemade pasta. There are numerous restaurants and taverns in the city and its surroundings that serve these delicious dishes, as well as local wines and olive oils.
